7 Ways to generate Free Web Site Traffic

How many ways can you get free web site traffic? Who knows, but here are some to get you started. Hopefully there will be one or two ways here that you haven't yet tried.

1. Submit your web site to search engines. Don't wait for them to find you. You can automatically submit to 20 at freewebsubmission.com. You'll have to submit manually to Google (www.google.com/addurl.html).

2. Directories. Do a search for niche directories for the topic of your website. Just type in "directory + online games," or whatever your site is about. There are also many general directories that accept submissions for free. The primary value of directories is not direct traffic, however. It is the links that help your ranking (and therefore traffic) with the search engines.

3. Forums. A great source of traffic for some sites. Talk about things of interest to you, and get free traffic to your web site (always sign off with a link). You may want to link to subscription pages for newsletters or e-courses you offer, to get maximum repeat visits from the traffic.

4. Free classifieds. There are many places that you can advertise for free, although few of them seem to be of any value. Test a little, and go with the ones that deliver.

5. Exchange Links. Exchanging links with other web sites can get you free traffic in two ways: traffic from the site, and traffic from the search engines, because the link helps your ranking with them.

6. Give testimonials. Do you love an e-book or other online product? Tell the author, and let her know she can use your testimonial. Mention that you'd appreciate it if she left the link to your site (under your name) active. Good testimonials are valuable, and you've probably seen them with a name and link attached.

7. Write articles. A great way to generate free web site traffic. In fact, thats what this article is about, and I have to tell you that there are at least ten more ways to get free traffic in my newsletter. You may want to visit the site and sign up.

Do You Really Understand the Blog?

The growth and popularity of blogs in general has been phenomenal within a very short period of time. Blogs or web logs as they were previously called is where all the action on the World Wide Web is, right now.

It is amazing how quickly web sites have been relegated to the back seat. Actually the role of web sites is rapidly being re-defined but it is clear blogs will be the place where all the traffic will be congregating for a long time to come. What some thought was a passing fad is clearly here to stay and is a permanent development that has already had far reaching effects on communications and the way we transmit and receive information.

Yet most entrepreneurs who have quickly jumped onto the blog bandwagon do not seem to fully understand and appreciate what blogs are really all about. Worse still, many of those who have remained away have no idea what all the fuss is about.

A clearer understanding of blogs is bound to benefit any e-commerce business owner or online entrepreneur.

Everybody can be a publisher or media owner
Probably the most significant impact of blogs is the fact that it is rapidly changing mass media, as we have known it since the invention of the printing press in the 15th century. Powerful media companies have been in the hands of a few people who have carefully controlled what we see in our media. Sometimes deliberately to achieve their corporate goals and objectives. Blogs are effectively transferring that power back to the people and away from the hands of a few.

This era of blogs means that anybody can be a publisher or media owner and effectively transmit whatever information they want and push whatever cause is dear to their hearts. The impact of blogs in politics for example has been a clear demonstration of the power of blogging. We have some blogs covering politics that have a couple hundred thousand visitors on a daily basis.

This may be a scary development to many folks including media owners but it presents a number of excellent opportunities for entrepreneurs to reach huge audiences with their messages at a tiny fraction of what their budgets used to be in the days when blogs did not exist.
his opens up a whole range of new opportunities that can be tried out in the years to come. Not many entrepreneurs have realized this yet.

Anybody who didn't have a site can own a successful blog
Blogs are so easy to set up, maintain and run that a new breed of online entrepreneurs is on the rise. It consists of many individuals who for one reason or another were unable to set up and maintain heir web sites.

We are now in an era where an online entrepreneur needs little else other than lots of creativity, there is actually so much that he or she can do without a single cent in capital.

Distinct advantages of having a blog
Blogs tend to get lots of traffic. Lots more than websites do. Besides search engines seem to love them. Blogs are also able to build up links much more easily than web sites. Thus it is no longer surprising for a nobody-novice to suddenly shoot up in stardom and recognition.

No entrepreneur can afford to be left behind
The benefits of a business having in it's stable a blog or two that is capable of attracting huge traffic, is very important and can be extremely useful in helping a business to achieve its' marketing goals and objectives.

Any entrepreneur whether online or offline who does not have a blog to help promote their business is making a very serious mistake that they will definitely live to deeply regret. In fact even playing catch-up with a blog that already exists will continue to be more and more difficult.

There are a number of advantages that blogs have which will continue to be extremely useful to entrepreneurs and webmasters. One of them is the fact that they easily allow for customer comment and anybody can be able to post a comment at your site. In a way this is a form of research and sampling because it enables the business to get feedback and thus be able to gauge the sort of response they will receive when they finally roll out their product or service into the market.                                                                                               Start using your blog more carefully and watch your traffic and revenues steadily climb as a result.

Online Business Tips

Online Business
There are several articles on the Internet where the writers claim to have made several thousands of dollars online. BEWARE! If it sounds too good to be true, it most certainly is. Do not get cut up in the web of deceit by unscrupulous Nigerians who would stop at nothing to make money! The best way to make money is to look within yourself, your surrounding and come up with a good/legitimate idea. If you have a skill, use it as the basis of an online business. Here are a few ideas that you can develop into a money making business:
  • Search Engine such as Search Nigeria or Search Ghana
There is still a huge market for SEARCH in Africa as most of our intellectual properties are still on paper. Google or Yahoo cannot search the nooks and crannies of our villages. A search engine may take a long time to make money, but it is a worthwhile business idea.
  • Advertising Portal such as ClickAds, Nigeria.
Most African businesses especially the small ones do not have their businesses online and that is robbing them of valuable online patronage.
  • Buying and Selling of Cars and related products
Most major items such as Houses, Cars Building contents, etc have good online presence. For instance, Europe has Auto Trader, Nigeria has MotorTrader, Nigeria, etc. there are lots of property portals in Nigeria, but who says you cannot have yours with a unique selling point?
  • Buying and Selling of smaller items
This is probably the easiest business to do online. Buy stuff and sell online. You do not need a warehouse, just be sure your suppliers can deliver orders to your customers. See COMDOCS for example.
  • Business Directory
There are many business directories around such as BusinessDirectory, Nigeria, but you can have yours and be part of the competition. This can be a good source of advertising income.
  • Photo Galleries
There are a handful of photo galleries, editing websites out there, but this is probably the simplest and cheapest website idea you can embark upon. See an example here at Adesiyan.Com.
  • Online Auctions
The potential for this is huge in Africa and you must seriously consider this project. EBay currently has a huge market, but it is difficult for Africans to buy anything on it except they go through a friend in Europe. Create your very own online auction site.
  • Local Newspaper/Magazine
The online news industry is a very vibrant one indeed and it is currently enjoying the top search ranking positions in virtually all African countries. Start your own local online news website by differentiating yourself from the crowd. You can decide to concentrate on local news, village news and you’ll be surprised ho w much interest there is.

  • Jobs Website
It is not surprising to see that jobs websites in Africa are doing very well. it is obvious that Africans are generally deprived and as such very little jobs to go round. A job website that concentrates on any or all African countries will pull the crowd.
  • Forums
A good example is nairaland.com or megaxforum.com that is currently enjoying the number one position in Nigeria with over 600,000 subscriptions. Decide on the issues you want to address and create a forum for it.
These are just a few ideas that you can work on from the comfort of your own home and I believe these list of ideas will help you to come up with other ideas. There is airline ticketing, portal for Plumbers, mechanics, doctors, etc. Sit down and think long and hard before embarking on any of them. I believe in the power of prayer and if you are like me, you will pray about it. When you have decided to embark on a website project, be sure to discuss with a website developer such as Adesiyan.Com. However, be sure to ask any web developer to see any related works they have done in the past.
There are other things you can do to reduce the involvement of a web developer, designer or programmer – buy the script yourself. Your site may not look professional at the beginning if you opt to do-it-yourself, but you would have cut down on the costs of acquiring a professional. I am not encouraging this, but it has to be the way to go if you cannot afford to pay people like me. Most scripts are usable out of the box anyway, but a professional will be able to add functionalities that do not come with the original script.
How do I get paid?It may take a bit of time to start making money from your fully developed idea, but one of the major issues with these online businesses is how to collect your money online as virtually all money making ideas include some element of ecommerce. OnlineNaira is currently operating in Nigeria along with a few others. Payment gateways are starting up in Ghana as well and who says you cannot start your own payment gateway online?
What about Funding? The other issue is how to pay for all these. Well, that is up to you! You will need to look within yourself and your pocket money and your family and etc. You have to bear in mind that costs of offering a service is key and you must look for ways to reduce your costs as much as possible. If your Father or Great Uncle did not leave you with some millions of money stored up for your sole use, then you are like me and may need to replace the need for money with sleepless nights in front of the computer. You will also need to come up with ways to get what you need for business growth by offering to exchange your services for what others offer.
My Website Name. The choice of website name (domain name) is key and will come in handy when people start to look for your business online. For now, it should suffice to say that you should go for a domain name that shows where your business is. If you are based in Ghana, let people know your business originates from Ghana by choosing a .gh domain name; if you are in Nigeria, choose one with a .ng; avoid choosing a .com without thinking twice about it.
. You can also make money through blog and you c an register your blog via blogger.com or wordpress.com without paying any cash.or you can hire a professional blogger to do the job for you. and then you can start making your real legitimate money online with Google ad sense. for you to know more about blog and Google ad sense you must read my upcoming post titled "google adsense tips" i am still working on it
